7/1/26 A plethora of news has hit the desk while I suited up my golf clubs and did my laundry for the holiday weekend:
LaMelo Ball and Josh Green were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round, three first-round swaps, and three second-round picks. So many folks over at ESPN are saying this is a terrible trade for the Timberwolves, but it seems the fans of the Timberwolves love it, the Hornets fans hate it, and thus I talked myself into buying a Ball jersey for later this year. Ever since LaMelo received Rookie of the Year in 2021 over Anthony Edwards, I’ve been his biggest hater. All of that hate vanished when I saw an ESPN analyst give us a D+ for trade rating. They just love to get clicks these days.

Timberwolves are resigning one of my favorite players in Bones Hyland. His free agency did not last long and within a day of declaring, Bones was once again a Timberpup. Him and Ayo will be the second most interesting one-two punch on this roster. Bones is crazy name for someone and should be respected among anyone else in the NBA

Lastly, the discourse of LeBron going to the Timberwolves will be on the mind of all fans until we get a LeDecision. If he by chance takes his talents to St. Paul, the Timberwolves would take a huge gamble on an undisciplined LaMelo and an aging but still an All-Star, Lebron James. As a free agent, he has given each team he chose a ring. Maybe he can teach leaders how to lead and others how to listen. This is a long shot, but I am glad to not be in the front office to make this decision.

7/10/26 As Summer League starts, Timberwolves fans gear up for what could be a turbulent line up controversy that could last upwards of midway through the season. Let’s just say LeBron ends up a Cavalier. Our need for Power Forward tops all other needs at the moment so what does Coach Finch want to do? Jaden McDaniels will be moved up to the four spot, which may take away his defensive abilities around the perimeter. Our Villanova boy, DiVincenzo won’t be seen till at least playoffs and my personal favorite new(ish) guy, Joan Beringer needs to step up in his second year. This makes the Summer League a must watch for the only fact that we are missing a huge puzzle piece but hey, LeBron is just biding his time to make sure he has that interest rate locked in on Lake Minnetonka, right?
